Run your first import

Review a validated snapshot before it becomes your stored event data.

Prepare a preview

Select the event in Imports and prepare an import preview. Fetching can span multiple background passes. Leave the job to finish and inspect its status in import history rather than starting competing jobs.

A preview stages the proposed changes. It does not publish a page or apply changes to existing imported records.

Review and apply

  1. Confirm the source event is correct.
  2. Review the presentation and presenter counts.
  3. Inspect field changes, especially custom fields and transformed values.
  4. Review source visibility and deletion changes when present.
  5. Apply the preview when satisfied.
  6. Wait for the run to report completion.

A validated full-import action is also available. For initial setup, reviewing a preview makes it easier to catch the wrong event or an unexpected mapping.

When a preview becomes stale

Changes to rules, credentials or stored event data can invalidate a prepared preview. Prepare a new preview instead of attempting to force an old snapshot through.

What happens on failure

Unavailable, incomplete, malformed or conflicting feeds are held. A failed import preserves the last committed data. A missing record is not automatically treated as deleted.

Imported values are source-owned. Make enduring content corrections in Cadmium, or use import rules for deliberate transformations. Do not rely on local edits to imported metadata surviving the next import.

Next: Choose and transform fields, then Approve public fields.
