Connect a Cadmium Education Harvester event

Obtain the right API key

Ask Cadmium for Cadmium Education Harvester API access for the event you want to import. MetaSprout cannot issue a Cadmium key. Confirm the intended event and permitted data with Cadmium; this guide does not assume a particular Cadmium account menu or permission-scope screen.

The beta workflow assumes an event-specific key. Do not assume a key covering multiple events will automatically populate an event selector.

Add the connection

1. Open MetaSprout → Imports.
2. Add an event connection with a descriptive name.
3. Enter an event identifier and feed identifier. Use a distinct event identifier for each year or program.
4. Enter the Cadmium Education Harvester API key.
5. Keep imports manual for the first run.
6. Save the connection, then prepare an import preview.

An identifier such as annual-2026 is an internal event label, not a shortcode parameter. The numeric connection ID identifies this connection in generated shortcodes.

Verify the source

Review the returned event identity and record counts before applying data. Stop if the feed belongs to a different program. Saving a connection is not evidence that its feed has passed validation.

Connections keep events separate so a new year's import does not overwrite the previous year's records. Changing the display name is not a substitute for creating a new event identity.
