Choose and transform fields

Control imported values before using them in a public layout.

Find a field

Open Fields & Rules, choose the event and record type, and search for the source field. Review actual values before deciding how to import them. Custom source field names may not describe their meaning; confirm their purpose with the event owner.

Import selection and public approval are separate. A field can be imported for internal use without being available to visitors.

Apply transformations

Available operations include trimming whitespace, removing HTML, allowing safe post HTML, lowercase or uppercase conversion, text replacement, boolean and decimal normalization, and date/time formatting.

Choose the operation that matches the desired change. Replacing matching text differs from replacing the entire value when a match is found. Rules can also have conditions; review those conditions alongside the transformation.

Preview the result with representative values, including empty values and unusual formatting. A rule that removes a required title or produces invalid data can hold the import.

Format dates deliberately

Use the source's known format and timezone when transforming dates. Do not infer a timezone from the visitor's browser. A display preference such as 12-hour time is different from transforming the stored timestamp.

For appearance-only changes, use Layout Studio time settings. Calendar downloads need valid start/end values; see Calendar downloads.

Reuse rules

Use the available rule presets/library to reuse configurations. Review custom field meanings, year-specific replacements and date assumptions for the destination event. Reusing a rule does not mean its source field has the same meaning in another feed.

After changing rules, prepare a fresh import preview. Saving a rule alone does not reprocess all existing records.
